Night Photo Shoot

This is a series of night photography at Jalan Alor near the Pavilion. This is my second time taking night photography because I didn't get the concept of night photo. I've seen various examples, both online and from fellow classmates, but I still had trouble grasping the concept. Yet, I tried to keep in mind what Mr. Ubl had taught me awhile back, saying that night photography has the concept of light to it. I tried to incorporate what he'd said into my shoots, but faced several challenges such as the subject being dark, etc. Compared to my first session of night photography awhile back, I think I've made progress on my understanding of night photography and what should be photographed. I see night photography as a concept of a blend in both street photography and the usage of artificial light while making it seem as though it was natural.

It was fun going of a trip like this night photo shoot because there are other people with that could help and give me an inspiration on how to take the photo and where to take the photo. This was also the time where I get to bond with other people who takes the photography class and bond together.

Street Photo

This is one of the side-walk like hallway leading and located near the Dataran Merdeka. This is one of the hallways that I used to walk down with my relatives when I was younger. It's really insuring to see that not all of my childhood memorable places are completely modernized.

This is a portrait of one of the resident artist located at the Central Market. I have known this artist since I was a kid around the age of 9 and is a friend of my dad. It was a while that I have seen him and it was nice to remember the time we met each other and catch up with any events that happened between the timeline of 9 years.

This is the building in front of the Dataran Merdeka. This is one of the area or building at I used to spend time with my auntie back when I was around the age of 5. This is one of the iconic building that I still remember since my last visit.

These are some of the street and portrait photos at the Central Market. This is one of Malaysia historical and iconic tourist destination. The first photo is a side walk located before the historical site of the Dataran Merdeka. The photo shows the contrast of the old and the new monument coexisting together in that certain area. The second and last photo is a portrait of an artist that works at the Central Market. He works at the Central Market drawing different style of portraits and took the photo of him surrounded in his artworks and passion. The third photo is one of the building located in front of the Dataran Merdeka. The influence of the old and new architect is clearly coexisting together. The fourth photo is the alleyway next to the Central Market. The photo shows the influence of the Malaysian designs and the shops that are still opening and selling goods since the 1900's. I love taking street photos because I grew up in the KL area and I missed four years of the economic evolution of the country. It was nice to know that some of the existing buildings still running their shops with new buildings to make the place became lively.

Class Group Portrait

These are portraits taken with a waist finder lens camera. This is a camera where the user would look down to see through the lens. This would be perfect for landscape type of photography as it is set to a landscape layout. At first, using the waist finder lens camera was hard as to how I was going to take a portrait in a landscape layout. But as I continue to experiment with handling the camera, it became easier and a new experience as to how I had to get the photo taken. I had to use more of the angle and new position than I usually do as to holding a normal film camera. Overall the photos taken turned out surprisingly great for a waist finder lens camera and I like the result.
